WeirWood from a damp dawn at the dam where it was quiet. Here 5 Great-crested Grebes, a 1st winter Common Gull, 15 Black-headed and 4 Herring Gulls was about it on the water. East End. A Curlew flew over calling loudly, heading NE. Not much on the water, 4 GC Grebes, 2 Mandarins, 2 Egyptian Geese, 11 Canadas, 2 Mistle Thrushes behind the dam, 5 Jays, Raven, Bullfinch, Marsh Tit.

On Friday afternoon a Marsh Tit was singing in the carpark. As it moved around it was briefly very close in the branches above the bench! I was confident with my ID and Stephen helped nail the song 100% by seeing the bird’s moving bill!

WeirWood, a late morning brief stop at the west end produced a superb pair of Goshawks displaying over and in front of Admirals Wood, also Great Egret flew north towards the dam. Little on the water except 2 Little Grebes but no Goosanders today. Not bad though for 20 minutes.

West end this afternoon before the rain with David Williams.5 Buzzards, Red Kite & Peregrine(male).33 Grey Herons in Heronry, on the water Goosander (redhead) 2 Coots, 16 Mallard & 1 Tufted Duck.Great white Egret flew west, 7 Lesser Redpolls over car park, Goldcrest and Marsh Tit around feeders & 3 Common Gulls over.
A quick west End Heronry survey confirmed 27 active Heron nests and 4 active Cormorant nests so far. However there are many more nests, those were just the ones where birds were seen at the nest.
