Whillet’s:- 2 Water Rail heard, 1 Stonechat, 1 Buzzard, 2 Long-tailed Tit already nesting.
Interestingly a survey of the early-flowering woodland plants showed many species are already starting to flower ~ Barren Strawberry, Cuckoo flower, Early Dog Violet, Dogs Mercury, Wood Anemone, Primrose, Ground Ivy and Lesser Celandine.
There is a lot of Frogspawn in the meadows. We also saw Brimstone and Peacock butterflies.
Dam End:- 1 Kestrel, at least 2 Chiffchaff, 3 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pied Wagtail.  We walked along the public footpath to the picnic area where we cleared rubbish and tidied. We saw a number of Early Purple Orchids already well grown although not yet in flower; one unusually had unspotted leaves. We also found flowering Moschatel (aka Town Hall Clock) growing along the footpath.

Whillet’s:- Chiffchaffs, female Stonechat, pair of Bullfinch and pair of Mandarin.
Under a refugium on the edge of the reed bed was a lively water shrew

Dam End:- 36 Canada Geese, 140 Woodpigeon in field at sailing club, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Jay, 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Grey Wagtails, 12 Herring Gull, 13 Black-headed Gull, 1 Moorhen.

West End:- 2 Tufted Duck, 21 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag Geese, 1 Kingfisher, 27 Grey Heron, 2 Grey Wagtail, 7 Buzzard, 1 Chiffchaff, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 11 Mallard, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Chaffinch.

West End:- 2 Red Kite, at least 10 Chiffchaff, a small flock of Redpoll and Siskin, Marsh Tits, Water Rail.
Dam End:- 3 Sand Martins, on the dam a Little-ringed Plover male briefly: both year ticks.

West End:- 2 Chiffchaffs, 1m Tufted Duck, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Egyptian Geese, 4 Goldfinch, 1 Song Thrush, 6 Mallard.
Dam End:- 1m 1f Tufted Duck, 1 Coot, 3 Mute Swans, 8 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag Geese, 1 Grey Wagtail, 3 Buzzards, 20 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Herring Gulls, 4 Mallard, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Starling, 1 Pied Wagtail, 3 Rooks, 3 Buzzards.
Whillet’s:- 4 Chiffchaffs, 4 Bullfinch, 20 Lesser Redpolls, 10 Siskins, 1 Jay, 1 Kestrel, 1 Red Kite, 3 Buzzards, 1m Reed Bunting at reed bed, 2 calling Water Rails at reed bed, 2 Grey Wagtails, Kingfisher heard, 6 Teal in flood under trees far side of river, 2 Mandarin on river, 2 Mallard & 2 Moorhen at reed bed, 1 Redwing.

West End:- (10.45 – 11.50) Red Kite flying over, 2 Mute Swans, pair Tufted Ducks, approx 20 Canada Geese, one only Great Crested Grebe, Black-headed Gulls, 2 Common Gulls, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper, Chaffinch, Robin.
On feeders – Great, Blue, Long-tailed, Coal, and Marsh Tits, Goldfinches.
A male Sparrowhawk swooped down on the feeders, unsuccessfully chased a Blue Tit, and scared all birds away. At least 10 minutes before they cautiously ventured back.
Usual Mallards, Herons, and Cormorants.

West End:- 2m+4f Wigeon, 2m+2f Gadwall, 2m+1f Tufted Duck, 4+ Canada Geese, 6 Egyptian Geese, 1 Buzzard, 1 Snipe, 1 Marsh Tit.
Whillet’s:-  2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Snipe.

West End:- 2 Mandarin, 19 Canada Geese, 3 Egyptian Geese, 5 Greylag Geese, 3 Common Gull, 130 Black-headed Gull, 2 Chaffinch, 7 Goldfinch, 8 Great Crested Grebe, 140 Woodpigeon.

Dam End from dawn:- Green Sandpiper in the overflow also displaying Grey Wagtails.
West End:- Water Rail, busy feeders with Coal and Marsh Tits and Nuthatch plus others.

West End, Car Park:- (09:53-10:42) 2 Canada Geese, 6 Mallard 4m 2f, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 45 Cormorant, 27 Grey Heron, 1 Snipe on Pintail Point, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Magpie, 1 Carrion Crow, 2 Stock Dove on Osprey platform. Around Feeders, 1 Nuthatch, 12 Blue Tit, 2 Great Tit, 2 Marsh Tit, 1 Coal Tit 2 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Chaffinch 2m 1f, 1 Wren.
