    West End:- 28 x Greylag Goose, 2 x Mandarin Duck, 4 x Mallard, 36 x Great Crested Grebe, 1 x Stock Dove, 9 x Common Woodpigeon, 1 x Common Swift, 1 x Common Moorhen, 5 x Black-headed Gull, 1 x Great Black-backed Gull, 1 x Lesser Black-backed Gull, 11 x Great Cormorant, 5 x Grey Heron, 1 x Common Kingfisher, 6 x Eurasian Jackdaw, 2 x Carrion Crow, 3 x Western House Martin, 1 x Common Chiffchaff, 2 x Eurasian Wren, 1 x European Robin, 1 x Dunnock

  • 6th August 2024 sightings

    Dam End:- From dawn 6 Common Sandpipers plus Redshank on the dam. A few Swallows and all the gulls were still around, 2 Teal, in the car park 2+ Willow Warblers, a Marsh Tit and 3 Jays. Below the dam a couple more Willow Warblers and a Chiffchaff.
    West End:- juvenile Goshawk, a few Mandarin, 30 Great Crested Grebes including 2 black and white chicks, 2 Kingfishers, 9 Lapwings and 2 Ravens over.
    Whillett’s:- 3 Reed Warblers, Green Sandpiper.

    West End:- 25 x Greylag Goose, 7 x Canada Goose, 2 x Mute Swan, 4 x Mallard, 34 x Great Crested Grebe, 2 x Stock Dove, 6 x Common Woodpigeon, 1 x Common Moorhen, 2 x Eurasian Coot, 9 x Northern Lapwing, 1 x Common Sandpiper, 16 x Black-headed Gull, 29 x Great Cormorant, 5 x Grey Heron, 1 x Common Buzzard, 1 x Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 x Carrion Crow, 1 x Western House Martin, 2 x Common Chiffchaff, 1 x Eurasian Wren

    Dam End:- Adult Osprey over the dam at 13:20, a superb bird, flew east towards Ashdown with a fish. 7 Common Sandpipers on the dam.
    West End:- 2 Buzzards, pair of Bullfinches.

    Dam End:- 5 Common Sandpipers, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Raven, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Mandarin, 3 Mute Swans.
    Whillet’s:- 4 Bullfinch, 7 Common Whitethroat, 2 Kestrel.
    Also 9 Grass Snake, 1 Slow Worm, 2 Common Lizards.

  • 2nd August 2024 sightings

    Dam End:- dawn at least 5 Common Sandpipers on the dam, 2 Willow Warblers in the car park with a tit flock plus Goldcrest and a Marsh Tit. The Egyptian Geese have fledged and so have a few Mandarin with 3 juveniles.
    West End:- Reed Warbler, 2 Teal, Common Tern and Common Sandpiper on one of the platforms, ca 70 Black-headed Gulls, 4 Buzzards and a Red Kite.

    7 Common Sandpipers (1 west end,1 overflow,5 dam), 40 Great Crested Grebes, 6 Lapwing, 2 Common Tern, 4 Coot, 2 Teal, Red Kite, Kestrel.
    Butterflies in Whillet’s-18 Small Skipper,1 Essex Skipper, 2 Large Skipper, 1 Brimstone, 1 Small White, 4 Green-veined White, 7 Small Copper, 1 Common Blue, 3 Red Admiral, 1 Peacock, 47 Gatekeeper, 21 Meadow Brown, 2 Ringlet. Also 2 Willow Emeralds at Meadow Pond.

  • 1st August 2024 sightings

    Dam End:- dawn – the Common Scoter had departed, 2 juvenile Wheatears 1 on the dam and one in the paddock by the houses, 40+ Pied and 2 Grey Wagtails on the dam. 2 Yellow Wagtails over south, 5 Common Sandpipers, adult Great Black-backed Gull and fewer Black-headed Gulls this morning ca 100, a single Common Tern, Kingfisher on the dam showing well, several showy Willow Warblers in the car park, Reed Warbler below the dam, a Swift, 4 House Martins.
    West End:- ca 120 Black-headed Gulls, adult Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Kingfishers, 3 Reed Warblers and Little Egret on Whillett’s with more Willow Warblers and 5 Mandarins. At 7:15 a male Marsh Harrier, appeared over Pintail bank and flew over the car park.
    Afternoon – 2 Teal, 7 Common Sandpipers, Red Kite, Kestrel, 40 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Coot.
