West End:- 5 Green Sandpiper, 2 Common Sandpipers, 30 Lapwings, 1 Grey Wagtail, 98+2 juv Great Crested Grebes, 10 Swallows, 2 Sand Martins, 1 House Martin, 1m Tufted Duck, 2 Teal, 32 Mallard, 9 Mandarin, 98 Greylag Geese, 1 Kingfisher, 5 Moorhen, 45 Black-headed Gulls, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Buzzards.Dam End:- 26 Common Terns, 57 Black-headed Gulls, 11 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Swift, 1 Common Sandpiper.Whillet’s:- 6 Reed Warblers, 5 Common Whitethroats, 9 Grass Snakes, 9 Common Lizards, 3 Slow Worms, 2 Emerald Damselflies, 3 Blue-tail Damselflies, 2 Brown Hawkers, 2 Southern Hawkers, 2 Common Darters. Butterflies:- 3 Green-veined Whites, 68 Gatekeepers, 31 Meadow Browns, 4 Comma, 1 Large Skipper, 2 Small Copper, 4 Common Blues, 1 Red Admiral, 1 Large White, 1 Ringlet, 1 Peacock, 1 Small Skipper. -

West End:- 43 + 2 young Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 5 Grey Heron, 61 Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 1 white feral goose, 6 Mandarin, 22 Mallard, 1 Buzzard, 1 Moorhen, 7 Lapwing, 4 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, 7 Common Tern, 2 Stock Dove, Treecreeper & Great Spotted Woodpecker heard, 2 Swallow, 1 Marsh Tit.
Whillet’s:- 1 Marsh Tit, 4 Whitethroat, 3 Common Darter dragonfly, 3 Slow Worm. -

West End:- 1 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Oystercatcher, 5 Green Sandpipers, 1 Common Sandpiper, 1 Little Egret, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Buzzards, Great Crested Grebe with 3 chicks.

Wood Sandpiper and an Oystercatcher on Pintail Bank.Common Sandpiper and 4 Green Sandpipers under the heronry. 1 Little Egret, still 3 Great Crested Grebe chicks with an adult out on the water. 1 Kingfisher was reported. About 15 Lapwing, 15 Long-tailed Tit flock passed over the Car Park. 2 Buzzards at Whillet’s. -

Pictures from the work party on 25 July 2017. Clearing the willow trees from the North Bank to encourage water birds and waders. Continuing the tasks started with the volunteers from Southern Water last week.

WeBS All reservoir:- 78 ad +1j Great Crested Grebe (also 3 chicks on an adults back), 23 Cormorant, 13 Grey Heron, 12 Mandarin, 43 Mallard, 2 Moorhen, 21 Lapwing, 55 Black-headed Gull, 16 Common Tern, 3 Pied Wagtail.
Dam End:- 72 Greylag Geese, 23 Canada Geese, 3 Egyptian Geese, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 7 Herring Gull fly over, 1 Sand Martin, 2 Swallow, 12 House Martin, 1 Song Thrush, c150 Jackdaw flyover.
West End:- 1 Tufted Duck, 2 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Sandpiper, Great Spotted Woodpecker heard, 1 Grey Wagtail. -

Dam End:- 2 Common Sandpipers
West End:- Great Crested Grebe with 2 grebelings (one on her back), noisy Common Terns, 2 Green and 1 Common Sandpipers, 5 Mandarin that look like fresh juveniles, Swallows
Ringing:- over the last 4 weeks I have caught 14 different adult Reed Warblers in our tiny patch of reeds and 2 juvenile Sedge Warblers.
