    West End:- 1 Little Egret, 13 Mandarin, 1 Buzzard, 6 Moorhen, 22 Lapwing, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1+ 2 juvenile Black-headed Gull, 6 adult + 7 juvenile Common Terns, 1 Pied Wagtail. 2 adult Foxes on Pintail bank ~ one had a bad leg and limped. It was probably the same animal that many watched catch a Greylag Goose on our Open Day.
    Whillets:- 5 Whitethroat, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Marsh Tit. A quick butterfly transect count gave 29 Meadow Brown, 18 Ringlet, 16 Gatekeeper, 14 Small Skipper, 2 Large White, 2 Comma and a fresh newly-emerged female Common Blue.

    West End:- 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Kingfisher, 8 Lapwing, 1m Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 80 Great Crested Grebes, 56 Mallard, 1 juv Black-headed Gull.

    Whillet’s:- 7 Goldfinch feeding on thistle heads, 2 Song Thrush singing, Reed Warbler heard, 3 Blue-tailed damselflies at meadow pond.
    West End hide:- 80 Great Crested Grebe with a few sitting on nests, 2 Green Sandpiper, 11 Lapwing, 1 Little Egret, 6 Grey Heron, 10+ Cormorants plus a juvenile seen begging for food from adults. 1 Mute Swan, 9 Greylag Geese, 4 Mandarin, 15 Mallard, 6 adult + 8 juvenile Common Terns, 1 Swallow, 10+ House Martins, 1 Pied Wagtail, Reed Warbler heard.
    Dam End:- 65 Herring Gull, c.20 Black-headed Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 22 Canada Geese, 30 Greylag Geese, 4 Lapwing, 2+ Pied Wagtail also a few Grey Herons, many Cormorants and Mallards which were not counted.

    Whillet’s:- 1 Marble White, 2 Small Copper, 1 Holly Blue, 3 Brown Hawkers, 3 Blue-Tailed Damselflies, 1 Emerald Damselfly.

    West End:- 2 Green Sandpipers, 6 Lapwing, 1 Little Egret, 17 Grey Heron with a few seen going to the heronry nests. Young begging calls have been heard, so it is likely that some late nesting is taking place. 18 Cormorant, 4 Mandarin, 1 Moorhen, The 3 pairs of adult Common Terns now have 5 of their 8 chicks partly fledged and they are flying off and back to the rafts. These young are still returning to the rafts to be fed by their parents.

    West End:- 9 Adult Common Terns & still 8 chicks, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Common Gull, 16 Lapwings, 1 Little Egret, 1 Mute Swan, 1 Bullfinch, 26 Mallard, 80 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Kestrel, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Buzzards, 3 Sand Martins.

    West End:- 2 Little Egrets, 1 Green Sandpiper, 9 Adult Common Tern + 6 chick, 3 Buzzards, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Reed Warblers, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Sand Martin, 2 Swallows also 2 Fallow Deer.

    Common Terns breeding on rafts.
    Between 12.30 and 13.30 today each raft at some time had 2 adults and food was provided to chicks that are nearly fledged. Viewing from the car park:- on the left-hand raft are 3 fledglings; on the closer right-hand 2 fledglings and on the further right raft there is 1 fledgling.
