WeirWood mid morning from the dam. A rather noisy Oystercatcher on the dam was noted first of all and a Great Egret along the south bank. I’ve had worse starts here. However there was just one grebe and no gulls this end. Several Pied Wagtails and 2 Greys were on the dam. 2 Linnets on the grassy bank were males and a Wood Lark flew over SW. At 11:30 the Oystercatcher flew off NE making a right old noise. Below the dam I found 2 Chiffchaffs but nothing else of note. At the west end several Redwings and Fieldfares were going over plus a few Mandarins and a Teal but little else. The feeders were busy inc’ male Great spotted Woodpecker, Marsh Tit and Nuthatch.

WeirWood early afternoon on another beautiful sunny day. In the dam end c/pk a Chiffchaff was singing as was a Marsh Tit. On the water little of note 6 Great-crested Grebes, 26 Black-headed Gulls and several Herring Gulls on the aerator. A Kingfisher flew speedily past and a Raven flew over calling. At the west end much as usual 2 Little Egrets in the base of the heronry, 4 Wigeon, 2 Tufted Duck and 2 Teal. 2 of the 6 Great-crested Grebes were weed dancing and a Little Grebe was present. The feeders were busy as usual and a Water Rail was again feeding happily by the hide. 2 Siskins were also on the feeders. 4 Lesser Redpolls flew over and a Redwing was in the trees opposite.

WeirWood it was very spring like. The birds were good too, Goshawk female over the boat park by the fishing lodge plus 2 Sandwich Terns through north east and a male Little-ringed Plover on the dam at 15:30hrs until it flew south along the north bank. I was delighted. 3 Buzzards were noted and a Red Kite over the dam. Gulls were 17 Herring and 2 Lesser Black-backed with a few Black-headed. In the c/pk a Chiffchaff, Goldcrest and Coal Tit all singing.

A couple of hours at the west end this morning. Little Egret appeared at 11am and an imm Fem Goshawk was circling over the resr before stooping down into the north wood and flushing all the woodpigeons. I next say it about 15 minutes later flying over the resr to the south wood.
Other than that usual species. Kingfisher was flying about quite a bit early on.Oh, I should add that a Chiffy was singing for a short while at the car park.
