WeirWood again at mid afternoon after a couple of days away. Started at Whillett’s where a Water Rail was seen with another shouting the odds. Also here 4 Greenfinches and a Reed Bunting male.
From the c/pk a lovely Great Egret was under the heronry but all of the transient duck had gone from under the heronry, 4 Snipe were present however. Along Pintail bank a female Wigeon was noted. 2 Kingfishers were seen in the narrows and a Raven passed over. The only raptors were 2 Red Kites. 15 Great-crested Grebes were scattered around plus a late Barn Swallow went through. Nice to see 2 Siskins in the c/pk with another heard.
At the dam a Rock Pipit was around the overflow then flew to the far end of the dam but other than that just 10 more Great-crested Grebes, 30 Black-headed and a Lesser Black-backed Gull, all tucked up along the north bank from the fierce wind this end. I left at 15:40hrs.
