Dam End:- Today a Wheatear was on the top of the dam, a nice male, whilst on the waters edge 3 Whimbrel, a summer Dunlin and 2 Common Sands. The Whimbrel and Dunlin flew of north at 6:55. On and over the water 9 Mandarins, Kingfisher, a pair of Great Black-backed Gulls, several Barn Swallows inc’ with them 4 Sand and 3 House Martins plus a nice Swift. 2 Common Scoter males mid reservoir, these flew north at 6:50. A nice Hobby flew over west at 7:00, whilst below the dam 2 Whitethroat and a Linnet on the grassy slope.

West End:- it was relatively quiet apart from the heronry, here 2 Stock Doves were under the feeders and several Blackcaps were noted plus 2 Marsh Tits in the c/pk area. A few more Mandarins were seen as were 3 Gadwall. At Whillett’s a Reed Warbler was in song, lovely to hear. So a pretty good morning so far.
