Dam End:- 2 Mistle Thrush on dam, 1 Green Sandpiper by outflow Stream, 7 Bullfinch, 1f Kestrel, 2 Meadow Pipit, 2 pairs of Jays, 2 Coal Tits, 1 Goldcrest, 9 Song Thrush, 70+ Redwing, 30 Starling, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, groups of 12 and 10 Long-tailed Tits.

West End:- 4 Little Grebe, 1f Goldeneye, 3 Shoveler, 20 Gadwall, 29 Teal, 2 Grey Heron, 1 feral Magpie Duck, 192 Greylag, 1 Buzzard, 1 distant Sparrowhawk, 5 Moorhen, 2 flyover Lapwing, 1 Stock Dove, 70 Black-headed Gull, 4 flyover Pied Wagtail, 1 flyover Raven. At the feeders:- 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Marsh Tit, usual Blue & Great Tits, 4+ Goldfinch, 1 Greenfinch, 7 flyover Long-tailed Tit.

West End, car park (13.45-14.39):- 105 Black-headed Gull, 5 Common Gull, 168 Greylag Geese, 46 Gadwall, 13 Cormorant. 14 Mallard, 14 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Shoveler, 5 Mandarin, 6 Teal, 5 Moorhen,15 Lapwing, 2 Kingfisher, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Grey Heron, 2 Goldfinches, 2 Blue Tit, 1 Marsh Tit, 1 Great Tit, 1 Robin, 2 Pheasant and numerous Woodpigeons.

6th December 2016 – Work Party
Following recent problems with boats coming into the Nature Reserve illegally we have put up new warning signs. We hope that boat users will be aware that they are doing wrong if they go over the buoy rope and that they will stay out of the reserve in future. (See “Photos” tab.)

West End:- 1f Goldeneye, 1 Snipe, 65 Teal, 37 Gadwall, 1f Tufted Duck, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 3 Common Gull, 95 Black-headed Gulls.
Dam End:- 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Coot, 1 Mistle Thrush.
Whillet’s:- 1 Kestrel, 1 Mute Swan flew over, 24 Fieldfares, 2 Reed Buntings, 4 Song Thrush.

West End:- 1f Goldeneye, 2f Tufted Duck, 1f Shoveler, 1m Pochard, 1m Wigeon, 1 Snipe, 60+ Teal, 27 Gadwall, 28 Great Crested Grebes, 196 Greylag Geese.

West End:- 34 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Grey Heron, 193 Greylag including 2 hybrids, 1f Goldeneye, 1m Pochard, 1m Wigeon, 2f Tufted Duck, 27 Gadwall, 43 Teal, 3 Buzzard, 8 Moorhen, 19 Pheasant, (2 Red-legged Partridge in Legsheath Lane), 4 Snipe, 6 Common Gull, 1 Stock Dove, 2 Kingfisher, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Dunnock, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Marsh Tit, 5+ Long-tailed Tit flew over, 7 Goldfinch.

About 11am in Legsheath Lane:- a totally black Pheasant with 4 ‘normal’ hens.
