    WeirWood was decidedly gloomy early this morning and the dam held very little. A Common Sandpiper was on the dam and other than Black-headed Gulls and Great-crested Grebes nothing. The west end was somewhat better with Great Egret that flew over the heronry towards Whillett’s, Little Egret, Snipe, several Mandarins, Wigeon, 2 Shovellers 10 Teal, 2 Gadwall, 2 Kingfishers and in the c/pk Marsh Tit again. A few Barn Swallows were noted plus 2 flyby Jays.

    West End:- 2 x Greylag Goose, 4 x Egyptian Goose, 16 x Mandarin Duck, 2 x Gadwall, 27 x Mallard, 1 x Mallard (Domestic type), 2 x Eurasian Teal, 3 x Common Pheasant, 8 x Common Woodpigeon, 1 x Common Moorhen, 3 x Eurasian Coot, 14 x Black-headed Gull, 1 x Little Grebe, 7 x Great Crested Grebe, 17 x Great Cormorant, 7 x Grey Heron, 3 x Eurasian Jackdaw, 2 x Carrion Crow, 1 x Eurasian Blue Tit, 4 x Barn Swallow, 2 x Common Chiffchaff, 2 x Long-tailed Tit, 1 x European Robin

    West end:- 1 Great white Egret, 1 Little Egret, 5 Coot, 2 Moorhen ,1 Little Grebe, 4 Kingfishers, 40 Mallard, 11 Teal, 26 Mandarins, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, 2 Buzzard, 4 Meadow Pipits south, 4 Stock Dove, Feral Pigeon, Chiffchaff.

    WeirWood at a calm bright dawn started at the dam. On the dam a Common Sandpiper and Bar-tailed Godwit, this only stayed for 10 minutes before flying south. Still lots of gulls inc’ an ad’ Common Gull. Also several hirundines inc’ a few House Martins and ca20 Barn Swallows. The west end held female Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 5 Teal, Little Grebe, Kingfisher, 4 Mandarins and 2 Snipe. In the c/pk 2 Marsh Tits, a pair of noisy Nuthatches and a Redpoll over.

    West end mid afternoon:- 67 Black headed Gulls, 1 Chiffchaffs, 3 Coots, 24 Cormorants, 2 Gadwall, 40 Greylags, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Little Egret, 1 Little Grebe, 12 Mallard, 15 Mandarins, 2 Moorhens, 1 Sand Martin, 1 Common Snipe, 2 Swallow, 7 Teal, 1 Wigeon.

    West end – 1 f Wigeon, 2 Gadwalls (pair), 8 Teal, 11 Mandarins, 46 Greylags, 7 Canadas, 15 Mallards, 1 Little Grebe, 3 Coots, 96 BH Gulls, 9 GC Grebes, Kingfisher, Marsh Tit, Buzzard.

    Dam End:- This morning 40 Grebe Crested Grebes, 8 Grey Wagtails of which 7 were on the dam with 2 Common Sandpipers. 2 Siskins flew west over water tower.
    At west end 5 Teal, Kingfisher, 15 Canada geese, 3 Coot, 8 Mandarin and around 40 Mallards. Both a Lesser black backed gull and Grest black backed were present. 5 Chiffchaffs in bushes, 20 House Martins south and 2 Buzzards and Sparrowhawk noted.
    Whillet’s:- 5 Greenfinch, 1 Bullfinch, 3 Siskins, 1 Marsh Tit, Kingfisher, 1 Jay, 2 Ravens, 1 Mistle Thrush, 2 Blackcaps, 15 Chiffchaffs and 5 Ivy Bees.

    Plus 7 Meadow Pipits south. Little Grebe at west end too.

    WeirWood on a slightly misty but calm early morning at the west end. Here a good number of Mandarins, at least 25, also Little Egret and a Snipe again on Pintail bank. Several phyllosc’s, presumably all Chiffchaffs about plus Marsh Tit and 2 Siskins. At the dam 2 Common Sands an ad’ and juv’, also 3 Jays noted on top of the dam. The usual collection of gulls were still hanging out, then as all was quiet and the mist cleared at 8:10 an Osprey appeared towards the west end. Back on the dam a third Common Sandpiper was seen also ca20 Pied Wagtails were joined by 2 Greys. There were 33 Great-crested Grebes scattered around plus a Little Grebe. 4 Teal were seen from this end plus a Gadwall and nice impressive female Goshawk. In the c/pk 4 Goldcrest were seen plus Marsh Tit with more Chiffchaffs noted. Below the dam around the overflow a nice Lesser Whitethroat and overhead a Sky Lark. Things are on the move.
