West End:- 104 Greylag, 28 Great Crested Grebe, 32 Cormorant, 2 Little Egret, 8 Grey Heron, 4 Mandarin Duck, 4 Mallard,1+1 juv Moorhen, 2 Lapwing, 11 Common Tern, 1 Stock Dove, 2 Swallow, 1 Pied Wagtail.
Whillet’s:- 1 singing male Yellowhammer (pic), 1 juvenile Grey Wagtail, Song Thrush, Wren and Blackbird heard, 3 Reed Warbler, 1 Whitethroat, Blackcap and Chiffchaff heard, 1 Goldfinch feeding on Marsh Thistle heads.
Butterfly transect survey – 1 Red Admiral, 1 Large White, 1 Speckled Wood, 2 Comma, 31 Meadow Brown, 4 Ringlet, 4 Large Skipper, 7 Small Skipper (see pic), 2 Small Copper (see pic). Also – 1 Banded Demoiselle & 1 Brown Hawker Dragonfly, plus a suspected chrysalis of a Burnet moth high up on a plant stem.

Dam End:- Around 17:30 an Osprey was seen by the Fishing Bailiff.

West End:- 1 Little Ringed Plover on Pintail Bank, 2 Lapwings on North Bank opposite view point, Geese and Ducks also now using this area, 8 Common Tern.
Whillet’s:- 1 Buzzard, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2+ Reed Warblers, Song Thrush heard, 3+ Whitethroat, Blackcap and Chiffchaff heard, 1 Yellowhammer, 1 Reed Bunting.
Butterflies:- Ringlet, Small Skipper, good numbers of Meadow Brown and Large Skipper, 3 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Comma, 1 Large White.
Emperor Dragonfly at Meadow Pond with plenty of Azure damselflies. -

Whillet’s Meadows:- Osprey high over Whillet’s at 17:20hrs, Green Sandpiper at the edge of the reed-bed, 2 Kingfishers – one of them was a juvenile, I think.

Dam End:- 1 Oystercatcher flying around calling early morning. -

Dam End:- 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 4 Lapwings flew West, 1 Little Egret, 40 Swifts.
West End:- 2 Kingfisher, 6 Swallows, 12 Common Terns, 1 Mute Swan, 6 Mandarins, 1+4 recently fledged Grey Wagtails, pair of Tufted Duck.
Whillet’s:- 2 singing Yellowhammers, 1 singing Reed Bunting, 3 Reed Warbler, 48 Meadow Browns, 7 Large Skippers, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 2 Comma, 1 Red Admiral, 2 Cinnabar, 3 Silver Y, 1 Burnett Companion, 1 Black-tailed Skimmer, 2 Downy Emerald, 2 Blue-Tail Damselfly, 3 White-legged Damselfly. -

7 Grass Snakes, 1 Speckled Wood, 8 Meadow Brown, 4 Large Skippers, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 4 Cinnabar Moths, 1 Blood Vein Moth, 1 Yellow Shell Moth, 1 Silver Y Moth, 2 male Oedemera nobilis.
