    WeBS and Wildlife Sightings
    All Reservoir:- 28 Great Crested Grebe + 1 nest at West End, 14 Grey Heron, 23 Canada Geese with 19 young, 49 Mallard with 11 young.
    Dam End:-  1 Little Grebe, 17 Mandarin with 7 young, 1 Red Kite, 1 Honey Buzzard distantly, 1f Sparrowhawk, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Black-headed Gull, 2 Herring Gull, 55 Swifts, 10 House Martin, 1 Swallow, 2+3juv Grey Wagtail, 9 Pied Wagtail, 2 Mistle and 4 Song Thrushes, 1 Goldcrest, 2 Whitethroat, 3 Goldfinch, 1 Greenfinch flyover, 2 Bullfinch, 1 Reed Bunting.
    West End:-  34 Cormorant, 2 Mute Swan, 74 Greylag, 1f Mandarin with 2 young, 1f Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Moorhen, 12 Common Tern at rafts, 2 Stock Dove, 2 Kingfisher 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Pied Wagtail, Song Thrush heard, Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff.
    Also:- Blue-tailed Damselfly at Car Park, 1 Fox on Pintail bank, 1 Terrapin.
    Whillet’s:- 3 Reed Warbler one carrying food, 1 Lesser Whitethroat heard, 4 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Garden Warbler, 1 Goldcrest, Yellowhammer heard, 2m Reed Bunting.
    Also:- 1 Roe Deer, 8 Grass snakes (survey), 1 Field Vole. A wasp mimic Hoverfly – Sericomyia silentis  (See pic)
    Butterflies:- 1 Red Admiral, 4 Meadow Brown, 2 Common Blue, 3 Large Skipper, 1 Green-veined White, c100 Peacock and c20 Small Tortoiseshell caterpillars seen.
    Moths:– 1 Brown-china mark, 3 Burnet Companion, 1 Common Carpet, 2+ Grass Rivulet (whose caterpillar food plant is Yellow Rattle seed pods – See pic), 1 Silver-ground Carpet, 1 Straw Dot.
    Dragonflies and Damselflies:- 2 Beautiful Demoiselle, 1m Broad-bodied Chaser, 4 White-legged damselfly, 2 Blue-tailed Damselfly, c100 pairs of Azure Damselflies laying eggs at meadow pond.

    Dam End:- 1 Redshank, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 1 Little Grebe, 100+ Swifts, 30+ House Martins.

    West End:- 5 Mute Swan, 1 Pied Wagtail, 40+ Greylag, 10+ Common Tern. 1 Common Blue Damselfly, 4 Fallow Deer, 1 Marsh Tit.
    Whillet’s:- Heard:- Lesser Whitethroat, Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting, Common Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Garden Warbler and Blackcap.
    Butterflies:- Small Heath, Large Skipper Speckled Wood, Common Blue and Peacock
    Dragonflies:- Emperor and Broad-bodied Chaser.
    Damselflies:- Beautiful Demoiselle, White Legged, Large Red Damselfly, 15+ Azure Damselflies egg laying in meadow pond.
    Also Roe Deer and 4 Grass Snakes.

    West End:- 1 Lapwing, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 16 Common Tern, 39 Great Crested Grebe, 44 Greylag, 3 Gadwall, 1 Moorhen, 1 Swallow, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Buzzard, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1 Common Whitethroat.
    Whillet’s:- 5+ fledged Marsh Tit, 1 singing male Yellowhammer, 2 singing male Blackcap, 2 Chiffchaff, 4 Common Whitethroat, 3 Garden Warbler, 2 Goldfinch, 1m Chaffinch, 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Song Thrush, 1m Bullfinch.
    Also:- 2 Emperor Dragonfly, 6 White-Legged Damselfly, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 2 Large Skipper, 3m Common Blue, 2 Green-Veined White, 1 Cinnabar Moth, 3 Burnett Campion, several Peacock Caterpillars on stinging nettles.

    West End:-  20 Great Crested Grebe, 36 Cormorant, 8 Grey Heron, 50 Greylag Geese, 6 adult + 18 young Canada Geese, 6 Mandarin some were males starting to moult, 12 Mallard, 1 Lapwing on Pintail Bank. 3 Herring Gull flew over, 8 pairs of Common Terns appear to be nesting on rafts.
    Whillets:- 1 Buzzard, Great Spotted Woodpecker nest with young, (Green Woodpecker, Song Thrush, Reed Bunting,  2+ Reed Warbler, 3 Whitethroat, 2 Blackcap & 2 Chiffchaff all heard), 1 Garden Warbler seen.
    Also:- 1 Large Skipper, 2m+1f Common Blue Butterflies. 1 White-legged damselfly, 2m Broad-bodied Chaser dragonflies. 3 Grass Snakes.

    West End:- 18 Common Terns on rafts, 6 adult Canada Geese with 18 young.
    North Bank:- 1 Red Kite, 1 Hobby, 1 Kestrel, 4 Buzzards, 3 Swifts, 4 Swallows, 4 House Martins, 2 Whitethroat, 1 Blackcap, 1 Chiffchaff, 4 Goldfinch, 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Green Woodpecker, 1 Jay,

    West End:- 26 Great Crested Grebes,18 Common Terns.
    Whillet’s:- 1 Large Skipper,1f Common Blue,1 Comma,2 Green-veined White,3 Burnet Campion,1 White-legged Damselfly.

    Dam End:- 4 Common Sandpipers on the dam with 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 6 Herring Gulls, Little Grebe and Tufted Duck on the lagoon, Up to14 Common Terns, 20+ Swifts early on then none, several House Martins. A Badger at the dam by the pumping station.
    West End:- Garden Warbler carrying food to nest, Great-spotted Woodpecker feeding three young, 4 Reed Warblers in song.

    West End:- 12 Common Terns, 13 Great Crested Grebe, 32 Cormorant, 21 Grey Heron, 1 Mute Swan, 9 Greylag, 2 Canada Geese, 9 Mallard, 1 Coot, 1 Pied Wagtail, Song Thrush, Reed Warbler, Blackcap and Chiffchaff heard.
    Whillets:- Cuckoo heard, 1 Moorhen, 2 Garden Warbler, 2 Whitethroat, Chiffchaff and Blackcap heard, 4+ Reed Warbler and Reed Bunting heard at Whillet’s Pool.  2 Grass Snakes.
    Butterflies:- 1 Comma, 1 Brimstone, 1 Green-veined White, 1 Small Copper, 2m Common Blue.
    Dragonflies:- 1m+1f Broad-bodied chaser ovipositing – a larva emerging from pond (photo of larva case) and then with filled wings about to fly as young female.  (photo).

    Dam End:- 1 Singing male House Sparrow at Waterworks, 2 male Reed Buntings, 1 male Chaffinch, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Herring Gulls, 1 female Sparrowhawk, 1 male Kestrel, 1 Jay, pair Bullfinch, 3 Swifts, 2 Swallows, 9 House Martins, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, Grey Wagtail + 2 fledged young, 2 Pied Wagtails + 6 fledged young, 2 Female Mandarins with 6 and 9 young, 7 Starlings.
