West End:- 1 juvenile or female Scaup seen distantly close to North bank. It showed a notable white cheek mark and its darker back end and shape help identify it from the 2f Tufted Duck, one of which has a Scaup-like face, that it was associating with. Also 2f Shoveler, pair of Wigeon, 5m+2f Gadwall, 19 Mallard, 40 Teal, pair of Mandarin, 8 Moorhen, 9 Snipe, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Lapwing, 29 Great Crested Grebe, 140 Greylag + 1 hybrid Canada Goose, 2 Buzzard, 1 Kingfisher. Also 6 Red-legged Partridge seen in stubble field opposite lay-by.
Whillet’s:- 2 Bullfinch, 1 Stock Dove, 3 Long-tailed Tit.
Today with the onset of colder weather, the bird feeders were put out at the Nature Reserve viewing area. It will take a few days for the roving tit flocks and other birds to start using them.
