WeirWood from dawn again. A lovely flat calm day. At the dam 6 Common Sands on and around the dam area. Fewer gulls today with 73 Black-headed a few Herrings and an ad’l Great Black-backed. 15 Great-crested Grebes were scattered about, 2 Kingfishers and on the north shore a Dunlin. On the dam slope 2 Green Woodpecker juv’s, Grey Wagtail and 12 Pieds. Below the dam Whitethroat and a Willow Warbler showed well. A Hobby was perched up behind the waterworks and on the dry lagoon there was a Green Sandpiper. The west end was quiet to start picking up as the morning continued. The half grown tern chicks were looking good, although I only saw 2 today and the Black-headed Gull juv’s were still loafing about with a few of the Common Tern juv’s. Another 3 Common Sands were seen, 7 Lapwings and 2 Green Sandpipers in the narrows where 2 Great Wagtails were also. 5 juv’ Mandarins were noted plus 3 Teal and 7 more Great-crested Grebes. The Mute Swans were still here as was a Little Egret briefly. A few Stock Doves were present on the emerging mud. At Whillett’s Reed Warbler, 2 Reed Buntings, Greenfinch, Marsh Tit, Kingfisher and a Goldcrest.
