This morning at dam end-2 Common Sandpipers,2 GBB gulls,32 GC Grebes,4 Teal,2 juvenile Kestrels,10 Pied Wags,2 Starlings,5 Blackcaps in elder bushes and maybe my last Swift of the year over mid reservoir.
West end-1 Common Snipe under Heronry,1 Common Sandpiper north shore,1 Lapwing,2 Coots,3 Teal,1 Common Tern,8 House Martins,6 Seallows,15 Egyptians.

90% site had a male Southern migrant hawker over meadow pond, but not 100.% as it just wouldn’t land to clinch ID.
WeirWood at the dam late morning. Not a great deal about at first. 2 ad’ Great Black-backed Gulls amongst the 30 or so Black-headed and few Herring Gulls. However 3 Mediterranean Gulls flew in making one hell of a din, all 2nd winters unusually. Flew around for 10mins then flew off east. 3 Common Sands were scattered around the edges with none on the dam, a Kingfisher flew past and a Grey Wagtail was noted. Several Barn Swallows were moving through with a House and 2 Sand Martins in tow. On the slope, yes a juv’ Green Woodpecker again but that was all. In the c/pk Goldcrest and a few Chiffchaffs. No raptors though today.

Chilly morning at the west end, 10 lapwing, 1 common sand, 1 snipe, 2 teal, 5 mandarin, 7 moorhen, 3 coots, 15 mallard, 5 heron, 4 GCG, 1 kingfisher, 2 terns, 6 BHG, and a good ~ 25 or so returning swallow.
Much the same this afternoon with 2 Common Sandpipers,2 GBB gulls and Common Tern at dam.
West end 17 Mandarins,4 Teal,6 Coots,4 Lapwings,3 Common Terns,150 Canada Geese,13 Egyptians,37 Mallards,4 Mute Swans,2 Common Sandpipers,2 House Martins,2 Swallows,Grey Wagtail & Kestrel.
WeirWood late morning at the west end, just as the rain left off. Still a few Common Terns around on the platforms plus Black-headed Gulls inc’ a couple of juv’s. 11 Great-crested Grebes inc’ 3 half grown youngster. 2 Snipe were on Pintail bank at the right end. A few Barn Swallows were around with up to 10 noted plus Sand Martin. The White Stork appeared from nowhere with a Common Sandpiper on the left point again and 4 Teal were present. In the lay-by a superb showy Grasshopper Warbler was seen on the edge of the road. Best I’ve seen in a while. At Whillett’s 2 Reed Warblers and a Sedge Warbler of note but little else. As it brightened up I returned to the c/pk the stork walked back out of sight and there were now 4 Mute Swans here and overhead a Raven calling its distinctive way flew to Ashdown and 2 Red Kites to round off.
WeirWood mid morning at the dam briefly. I noticed in amongst the gulls an adult Yellow-legged Gull, very smart individual. Slightly darker upper parts than Herring, long winged, bright yellow legs and big red spot on the bill reaching upper mandible. Also 14 Herring, 3 Leeser Black-backed and a Great Black-backed Gull. 3 Common Sands were noted and 2 Kingfishers. On the slope again a juv’ Green Woodpecker, 3 Stock Doves and 5 House Sparrows. I was only here for an enjoyable 20mins. Try again tomorrow hopefully.
