West End:- 4 Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Dunnock, 6 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Greylag Goose, 4 Mandarin Duck, 7 Canada Goose, 15 Cormorant, 2 Egyptian Goose (on raft), 2 Great Tit, 2 Mallard.
Whillet’s:- 2 Jay, 1m Bullfinch, 1m Teal, 1 Chiffchaff & 1 Wren heard.
West End:- 43 Great Crested Grebe, 27 Cormorant, 40 Grey Heron – now over 40 active nests in the heronry, 1 immature Mute Swan, 1 Greylag, 3 Canada Geese, 3m Mandarin, 1m+1f Gadwall, 15+ Mallard, 1m Goldeneye, 2 Buzzard, 1 Peregrine flying, 1 Moorhen, 1 Black-headed Gull, 3 Common Gull, 1 Lesser Black-backed Gull with 10 Herring Gull flying high over, 4 Stock Dove, 2 Kingfisher, 1m Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Grey Wagtail on hide roof, 2 Chiffchaff heard, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Dunnock displaying, 6 Magpie, 1f Reed Bunting on feeders.

West End:- 21 Great Crested Grebe, 40 Grey Heron in heronry, 1 immature Mute Swan, 3 Egyptian Geese, 2m+1f Gadwall, 3 pairs of Tufted Duck, pair of Mandarin, 25+ Mallard, 1 Buzzard, 2 Moorhen, Stock Dove heard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Coal Tit, 3 Dunnock, 2 flyover Fieldfare, Song Thrush heard, Chiffchaff heard.
Whillet’s:- 4 Mandarin, 6 Teal, Chiffchaff heard.

West End (3.15 to 4.15):- 5 Egyptian Geese (3 on Pintail and 2 flying towards Whillet’s), 5 Mandarin (4m+1f ), pair Gadwall, 8 male Mallards around car park and under feeders, Kingfisher plus the usual Herons, Great Crested Grebes and Cormorants.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sightings from a morning walk along the North Bank public  footpath – spring has arrived

Birds:-  7 Chiffchaff, Stock Dove heard, Tawny Owl heard (late morning), Green Woodpecker heard,  1 Song Thrush, Coal Tit heard, Treecreeper heard, 1m Bullfinch, 3 Buzzard,  1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Butterflies:- 1 Brimstone, 1 Peacock, 2 Comma, 1 Red Admiral. Several Bumblebees plus a Queen Wasp.

Plants seen in flower: Lesser Celandine, Cuckoo Flower, Dogs Mercury, Early Dog Violet, Primrose, Opposite Leaved Golden Saxifrage. Also Early Purple Orchids seen (not yet in flower).

West End:- 1 Red Kite, 1 Kestrel, 5 Buzzards, 8 Egyptian Geese, 3 Little Egret, 3 Gadwall, 30+ Grey Heron, 30+ Mallard (See pic – a collection of drake mallards have arrived and taken residence around the feeders and car park), 2 Mandarin, 1 Mute Swan, 30+ Mallard, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Collared Dove, 2 Stock Dove, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1f Reed Bunting, Nuthatch heard and 2 Treecreepers.
Whillets:– 1 Jay, 1 Green Woodpecker & 1 Bullfinch (heard).
