West End:- 1 1 Little Egret, 1 Buzzard, 3 Black-headed Gull, 2 Common Tern, 5 House Martin, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Reed Warbler heard.
Butterflies: 2 Ringlet
Whillet’s:- 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker (flyover), 1 Whitethroat, 2 Garden Warbler, 1 Blackcap, 1 Yellowhammer heard, 1 Reed Bunting heard.
Butterflies: 2 Ringlet, 1 Large Skipper. -

Dam End:- 2 Common Sandpiper, 1m Tufted Duck, 8 Egyptian Geese including 6 goslings, 2 Common terns nesting on pontoon, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 3 Herring Gull, 17 Black-headed Gull, 10 Mallard, 14 Great Crested Grebe, 47 Greylag Geese, 18 Swallows, 1 Swift, 3 Goldfinch, Kingfisher, 2 Jay.
West End:- 2 Coot, 3 Common Tern, 1 Mandarin, 2 House Martin. -

Gull day today with 7 Black-headed Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 18 Herring Gull.
4 Common Tern + 2 more at West End one still sitting.
Loads of Pied Wagtails + 1 Grey Wagtail along dam, Green Woodpecker on dam slope and a Red Kite glided over. -

Dam End:- 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 16 Herring Gull,7 Black-headed Gull, 4 Common Terns, 16 Pied Wagtails, 19 Mallard, 8 Egyptian Geese, 1 Swallow, 7 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Green Woodpecker.
West End:- Kingfisher, 2 Common Terns.
Whillet’s:- 5 Common Whitethroat, 1 Mandarin, 2 Moorhen at reed bed, 3 Reed Warblers+1 carrying food in back meadow behind meadow pond.
Dragonflies & Damselflies:- 1 Emperor, male Broad-bodied chaser at reed bed, 1 Large Red Damselfly, 7 White-legged Damselfly, 50 Azure Damselfly, 3 Beautiful Demoiselle.
Butterflies:- 34 Meadow Brown, 3 Small Heath, 1 Ringlet, 7 Large Skipper, 3 Burnett Campion.
4 Grass Snakes. -
21st June 2024 sightings
West End:- much as yesterday plus 2 Kingfishers and good number of juvenile Grey Herons, 4 Mandarin, Reed Warbler, male Honey Buzzard at 09:05 over Whillett’s seen from hide, Great Crested Grebes still tending nests, Blackcap carrying food, 3 Lapwings flew in over Whillett’s.
Dam End:- 10 Herring Gulls mostly sub-adults, Lesser Black-backed Gull, 2 Black-headed Gulls, 5 Common Terns. -
20th July 2024 sightings
West End:- beautiful calm morning – at least 10 Common Terns tending nests with 3 chicks, the Black-headed Gulls were on their raft but no youngsters present.
Dam End:- Osprey flew in at 06:25, Common Terns and a few Swifts, Herring Gulls and a couple of Mandarin. -

West End:- 4 Common Terns on eggs another with 2 chicks, 2 Black-headed Gulls + 3 chicks, 2 Kingfishers taking small fish to nest, 3 Mute Swans, 3 Mandarin, 9 Mallard, 1 Moorhen, 13 Great Crested Grebe.
Whillet’s:- 9 Meadow Brown, 1 Common Blue, 1 Large Skipper, 1 Cinnabar, 3 Burnet Campion, 1 Common Sexton Beetle, 3 Grass Snakes, 2 Emperor Dragonfly, 6 White-legged Damselfly, 1 Roe Deer, 1 Fox, Chiffchaff feeding 3+ fledged young.
