WeirWood from 6:30hrs. After some rather uninspiring days recently it was fairly good this morning. At the dam 2 Common Sands were joined by an Oystercatcher until 7:00hrs when it flew off noisily south, also the first Osprey for a while at 6:50hrs over the dam and chased off by an aggressive ad’ Great Black-backed Gull. It flew south over Admiral’s wood. Other birds inc’ Buzzard sat on the fence on the dam slope, Mistle Thrush here too. Below the dam a Lesser Whitethroat juv’ was seen in the bushes, another Common Sandpiper in the overflow with 5 Wrens, a lovely Grey Wagtail plus there were a couple of Willow Warblers noted in the bushes here. A nice sight was the 20 or so Goldfinches feeding here, very pleasant. At the west end it was a much quieter affair with the Lapwing again and an ad’ Lesser Black-backed Gull with 2 juv’s. A few Mandarins, Chiffchaff, Nuthatch, Little Egret, crazy views of a Marsh Tit down to a few feet and a Kingfisher was seen and that was about it here.
