    West End:- 21 Great Crested Grebe, 40 Grey Heron in heronry, 1 immature Mute Swan, 3 Egyptian Geese, 2m+1f Gadwall, 3 pairs of Tufted Duck, pair of Mandarin, 25+ Mallard, 1 Buzzard, 2 Moorhen, Stock Dove heard, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Coal Tit, 3 Dunnock, 2 flyover Fieldfare, Song Thrush heard, Chiffchaff heard.
    Whillet’s:- 4 Mandarin, 6 Teal, Chiffchaff heard.

    West End (3.15 to 4.15):- 5 Egyptian Geese (3 on Pintail and 2 flying towards Whillet’s), 5 Mandarin (4m+1f ), pair Gadwall, 8 male Mallards around car park and under feeders, Kingfisher plus the usual Herons, Great Crested Grebes and Cormorants.

    West End:- 4+ Blue Tit, Chiffchaff (heard), 5 Great Crested Grebe, 11 Mallard, Pheasant, 4 Chaffinch, 4 Cormorant, 3 Great Tit, Moorhen, Robin.

    Sightings from a morning walk along the North Bank public  footpath – spring has arrived

    Birds:-  7 Chiffchaff, Stock Dove heard, Tawny Owl heard (late morning), Green Woodpecker heard,  1 Song Thrush, Coal Tit heard, Treecreeper heard, 1m Bullfinch, 3 Buzzard,  1 Lesser Black-backed Gull.

    Butterflies:- 1 Brimstone, 1 Peacock, 2 Comma, 1 Red Admiral. Several Bumblebees plus a Queen Wasp.

    Plants seen in flower: Lesser Celandine, Cuckoo Flower, Dogs Mercury, Early Dog Violet, Primrose, Opposite Leaved Golden Saxifrage. Also Early Purple Orchids seen (not yet in flower).

    West End:- 1 Red Kite, 1 Kestrel, 5 Buzzards, 8 Egyptian Geese, 3 Little Egret, 3 Gadwall, 30+ Grey Heron, 30+ Mallard (See pic – a collection of drake mallards have arrived and taken residence around the feeders and car park), 2 Mandarin, 1 Mute Swan, 30+ Mallard, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Collared Dove, 2 Stock Dove, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Pied Wagtail, 1f Reed Bunting, Nuthatch heard and 2 Treecreepers.
    Whillets:– 1 Jay, 1 Green Woodpecker & 1 Bullfinch (heard).

    Drake Mallards 14-03-17.

    Dam End:- 2m Pochard, 1m Tufted Duck, 2 Grey Wagtail, 3 Singing Chiffchaffs, 20 Redwing, 20 Fieldfare, 2 Buzzards.
    West End:- 2 Egyptain Geese, 5m+1f Mandarins, 40 Mallard, 19 Canada Geese, 6 Greylag Geese, 1 Mute Swan, 2 Nuthatch.

    WeBS count for the Reserve.
    Reservoir Total:- 42 Great Crested Grebe, 25 Cormorant, 10 Canada Geese, 7 Mandarin, 5 Teal, 48 Mallard, 2 Moorhen, 3 Stock Dove, 2 Pied Wagtail.
    Dam End:- 2 Herring Gull, 36 Black-headed Gull, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Skylark, 29 Fieldfare, 9 Redwing, 1 Song Thrush, 2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Jay, 1 Starling.
    West End:- 5 Egyptian Geese, 30 Grey Heron, 1 Mute Swan, 4 Gadwall, 2 Buzzard, 1 Marsh Tit, 1 Long-tailed Tit, 1 Nuthatch, 1 Treecreeper, 2 Goldfinch.

    2 Shelduck, 4 Buzzards and 2 Tawny Owls heard in the evening.

    West End:- 1 Mute Swan, 1 Egyptian Goose, 4 Teal, 4 Gadwall, 2 Mandarins, 3 Buzzards, 1 Reed Bunting, 3 Treecreepers, 2 Roe Deer, Peacock and Small Tortoiseshell butterflies seen.

    Dam End:- 2 Grey Wagtails, 30 Great Crested Grebes, 12 Common Gulls.
