Whillet’s Meadows:- 3 Stonechat, 37 Meadow Pipit, 26 Lesser Redpolls, 4 Siskins, 4 Greenfinch, 2 Chaffinch, 3 Bullfinch, 12 Goldfinch, 6 Wrens, 1 Kestrel, 1 Redwing, 2 Nuthatch, 1 Jay, 2 Red Admirals, 1 Small Copper, 2 Common Lizards.

Ringing this morning was rather quiet, of particular note Goldcrest and Long-tailed Tit. There has been a movement of Goldcrests over the last few weeks. See the close-up picture of the crest of a male Goldcrest. Other birds of note: Raven, Kingfisher, Buzzards and 3 Stonechats (in the meadows).

Dam End:- 5 Meadow Pipits, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Egyptian Geese, 1 Coot, 2 Little Grebe, 40 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Lapwing.
West End:- 10 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpiper, 25 Lapwing,  7 Teal, 1 Egyptian Goose, 1 Kingfisher.
Whillet’s:- Small Copper butterfly, 5 Long-Tailed Tit, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Jay.

West End – 2 to 3pm:- 12 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpipers, Kingfisher, Tufted Duck, 11 Teal, solitary Greylag, 4 Buzzards, Lapwings, Great Crested Grebes, Cormorants, Grey Herons, Mallard, Pheasants. Also Terrapin basking in sun.

West End:- 14 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpipers, 13 Teal, 28 Lapwing, 1 Kingfisher, 2 Fallow Deer, 1 Roe Deer.

Light Emerald moth; in the South these moths can have a second brood in September/October. Thanks to Robert Johnson for help with the identification.

West End:- 1 Osprey flew south at 11:30, 46 Lapwing, 12 Snipe, 3 Green Sandpipers, 1 Little Egret, 1 Teal, 1 Tufted Duck, 7 Mandarins, 46 Cormorants, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Kingfisher, 371 House Martins flew west,  1 Meadow Pipit flew South,1 Mistle Thrush flew West, 250 Starlings flew West, 4 Buzzards, 1 Sparrowhawk.

West End:- 10 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Common Sandpipers, 1 Lapwing, 3 Little Egrets, 30 Mallard, 28 Teal, 15 Mandarin, 2 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 5 Egyptian Goose, 1 Kingfisher.

West End:- 12 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpipers, 3 Common Sandpipers, 9 Lapwings, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Pied Wagtail, 28 Teal, 15 Mandarin, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Shoveler, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Buzzard, 4 Starlings, 20 House Martins, 20 Swallows.

West End:- 26 Teal, 22 Mandarin, 2 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 6 Snipe, 4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Common Terns, 2 Lapwing + 10 flew South, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Little Egret, 40 Swallows, 3 House Martins, 5 Moorhens, 1 Treecreeper, 3 Migrant Hawker Dragonflies.
