Dam End:- 5 Redpolls, 2 Ravens, a Red Kite lingered for a while, Yellowhammer in the meadow where 2 Stonechat were also showing, Marsh Tit and several Goldcrest too.

Whillet’s:- 197 Reed Buntings and 165 Starlings dropped into roost at the reed bed between 14:30-16:40, female Sparrowhawk hunting over reed bed, 1 Snipe high north over reed bed, Water Rail and Tawny Owl heard calling, 1 Kingfisher, 10 Redwings, 6 Chaffinch, 200 Starlings NW, 2 Mistle Thrush, 30 Pheasants around, 1 Migrant Hawker, 1 Pipistrelle Bat.
Dam End:- 300 Goldfinch in Alders, 2 Siskin, 2 Bullfinch, 4 Chaffinch, 4 Lesser Redpoll, 4 Meadow Pipit, 2 Stonechat, 1 Yellowhammer, 2 Raven, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Kestrel, 2 Egyptian Geese, 3 Blackbirds, 48 Starlings, 1 Little Grebe on lagoon. -

West End:- 1 Mandarin, 23 Black-headed Gull, 8 Chaffinch, 1 Little Grebe, 125 Woodpigeon, 1 Red Kite.

A morning ringing session produced a mix bag of 47 birds.
2 Long-tailed Tit, 5 Goldcrest, 1 Robin, 7 Great Tit, 21 Blue Tit, 2 Coal Tit, 1 Marsh Tit, 3 Blackbird, 1 Chaffinch (1cy female), 1 Bullfinch (adult male), 1 Chiffchaff. 2 Redwing (both 1 cy birds).
Other birds of note:- 1 Mandarin male, 1 Kingfisher, 10 Fieldfare, 2 Buzzard. -

West End:- 1 Common Gull on tern raft.

I put up a couple of feeders at the hide Car Park today, which will be the beginning of our winter bird feeding.
West End:- 164 Greylag were along Pintail Bank and 74 Black-headed Gulls around the rafts. A few Great Crested Grebe, Cormorants & Mallards. 2 Kingfishers were seen by others.
Whillet’s Meadows:- A Water Rail is still in the reed-bed; but more heard than seen. 1f Stonechat, Jay, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, 2 Long-tailed Tit, Song Thrush, Buzzard, plus a Fallow Deer. The meadows are now becoming flooded, Pairs of Common Darter dragonflies are joined and laying eggs in the many wet areas. -

Dam End:- 2 Little Grebes on Southern Water Lagoon, 32 Siskins in Alders, 120 Redwings around and 100 Goldfinch, 18 Meadow Pipits on Dam with 2 Pied Wagtails while a Grey Wagtail flew over calling, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Marsh Tit, 1 Coal Tit, 1 Kestrel, 2 Song Thrush, 2 Fieldfares.
West End:- 1 Meadow Pipit, 102 Redwings and 18 Chaffinch flew west. -

West End:- 1 1st winter Mediterranean Gull among 70 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Fieldfares, 6 Redwings and 6 Redwings flew over, 24 Long-tailed Tits made their way through the Car Park.

Whillet’s Meadows:- Water Rail heard from reed-bed, 1m+1f Stonechat in second meadow, 3 Buzzards circling overhead.
Whillet’s Meadow Pond:- 2 Southern Hawker dragonfly, 2 + a pair of Common Darter joined and egg laying, Red Admiral Butterfly.
Under Tins:- Wood mouse and 3 Field Vole.
