This morning in the Study area – 5 different species ringed, with a total of just under 40 birds. They were; Blue Tit, Great Tit, Marsh Tit, Long-tailed Tit and Treecreeper. Interestingly a number of the Blue Tits were adult males. One had a wing length of 67mm. The longest I have ever recorded.
Other sightings of note – 3 x Siskin, 1 x Kingfisher, 1 x Mute Swan (flyover), 32 Greylag Geese (flyover), 2 x Goldcrest, 3 x Chaffinch, 2 x Marsh Tit, 1 x Buzzard, 1 x Nuthatch, 23 x Long-tailed Tits, 5 x Goldfinch, 1 x Magpie, 1 x Jay, 36 x Woodpigeon (flyover) and a Great Spotted Woodpecker. -

All Reservoir: 18 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Grey Heron, 40+ Mallard, 2 Buzzard, 13 Moorhen, 7 Coot, 70+ Redwing flyovers, 2 Goldcrest, 15 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Jay, 5 Carrion Crow, 3 Chaffinch, 4 Goldfinch.
Dam End:- 2 Mute Swan, 141 Greylag, 9 Egyptian Geese, 8 White Domestic Geese, 6 Mandarin, 130 Black-headed Gull, 4 Herring Gull, 155 Wood Pigeon flyover on migration, 5 Meadow Pipit, 1 Grey Wagtail, 2 Pied Wagtail, 1 Marsh Tit, 2 Coal Tit, 1 Nuthatch, 7 Rook, 30 Starling flyover, 3 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Bullfinch.
Lagoon – 4 Wigeon, 1 Kingfisher.
West End:- 2 Little Grebe, 49 Cormorant, 3m+3f Gadwall, 1m+2f Teal, 2m+2f Shoveler, 1m+2f Pochard, 1 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 1 Stock Dove, Blackbird, Blue Tit.
Whillet’s:- 1 Kingfisher, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Song Thrush, 1 Bullfinch, 1 Reed Bunting.
Also 8 Common Darter dragonflies still on the wing around the meadows. -

Three Common Darters at Pintail. Three to four Common Darters around Meadow Pond.
Male Stonechat in the second meadow close to the beehives.
In the third meadow, four Bullfinches and at least two Redwings. Raven flew over calling. -

West End:- 11 Egyptian Geese, 5 Coot, 3 Moorhen, 12 Goldfinch, 1 Common Gull, 25 Starlings, 12 Redwings SW,1 Sparrowhawk.
Dam End:- 1,300 Woodpigeons SSW, 57 Greylag, 2 Redwing, 3 Meadow Pipits, 4 Jays, 2 Grey Wagtails, 6 Siskins in silver birch, 10 Chaffinch.

West End:- 10 Cormorant, 8 Mallard, 1 Buzzard, 1 Moorhen, 20+ Black-headed Gull.
Whillet’s:- 4 Mallard, 12 Pheasant, Water Rail, Moorhen and Kingfisher heard, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 40+ Redwing flyovers and roosting nearby, 10+ Jackdaw flyovers, 2 Rook flyovers, 2 Crow, 1 Long-tailed Tit, Reed-bed roost: 16:00 to 17:45 ~ 62 Reed Buntings, c.20 Starling which were unsettled; some came in and went out several times, c.20 is the final estimated number in the roost.
Also 1 Migrant Hawker dragonfly. -

West End:- 36 Cormorant, 30+ Greylag, 5 Coot, 2 Moorhen, 1m+1f Gadwall, 2 Buzzard, 29 Black-headed Gull, 2 Kingfisher, 1 Jay, 150 Wood Pigeon. Also 1 Migrant Hawker dragonfly.
