WeirWood midday a Wheatear juv’ was on the dam, 2 Common Sands still, 222 Black-headed, 2 Great Black-backed ad’s and a juv’ and ad’ Herring Gull were around. 250+ Barn Swallows plus 50 or so House and 15 Sand Martins. The conditions were very changeable so counting was hard. A Little Egret was on the north shore. In the c/pk Marsh Tit and Goldcrest plus several Chiffchaffs. At the turning to the dam c/pk I had to stop the car rapidly as I’d found a Spotted Flycatcher juv’ on a branch over the road. Try as I might when it flew off I could not relocate it. Moving to the west end where the main bird of the day was seen on the small patch of mud left of the nesting platforms. A Wood Sandpiper was watched for 10minutes before it flew round the corner. Super little waders. A further 40 Barn Swallows plus 6 House Martins here, a Kingfisher and another Little Egret also. Not bad in the showers and prolonged periods of rain.
