WeirWood, having been away for 10 days it was good to catch up. The weather was much better than expected. For me 2 Goosanders both redheads were seen, Red Kite, 7 Buzzards, Great Egret, Little Egret, 2 Little Grebe and 16 Redpolls all at the west end. Marsh and Coal Tit were there as usual and the Water Rail at the feeding station was a nice view of this species. The heronry was busy with 30+ birds present. The only gulls noted were 4 Common Gulls and an ad’ Lesser Black-backed. 2 Ravens put in an appearance over the west end. Not a bad morning.

West End:- 5 x Canada Goose, 1 x Egyptian Goose, 12 x Mallard, 2 x Pheasant, 2 x Stock Dove, 73 x Woodpigeon, 2 x Coot, 8 x Great Crested Grebe, 8 x Cormorant, 29 x Grey Heron, 2 x Buzzard, 1 x Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 x Magpie, 12 x Jackdaw, 3 x Carrion Crow, 1 x Coal Tit, 2 x Marsh Tit, 7 x Blue Tit, 2 x Great Tit, 4 x Long-tailed Tit, 2 x Nuthatch, 1 x Blackbird, 2 x Robin, 2 x Dunnock, 1 x Goldfinch

West end this afternoon before the rain with David Williams.
5 Buzzards, Red Kite & Peregrine(male).
33 Grey Herons in Heronry, on the water Goosander (redhead) 2 Coots, 16 Mallard & 1 Tufted Duck.
Great white Egret flew west, 7 Lesser Redpolls over car park, Goldcrest and Marsh Tit around feeders & 3 Common Gulls over.

West End – 28 Herons in heronry, Red Kite, Tufted Duck, 21 Mallards, 6 Cormorants, 6 GC Grebes, Little Grebe, 3 Coots, Lesser Redpoll, 7 Snipe on Pintail, 3 Fieldfares, Chiffchaff, Marsh Tit.

A quick west End Heronry survey confirmed 27 active Heron nests and 4 active Cormorant nests so far. However there are many more nests, those were just the ones where birds were seen at the nest.

East End. Little Grebe, 8 GC Grebes, 100s of gulls on the water mid reservoir. Behind the dam, 6 Lesser Redpolls, 2 Green Woodpeckers, Mistle Thrush, Jay, Redwing.

Very wet morning at the westend – 7 herons on the heronry – 32 mandarin displaying in the rain – 2 GC grebes – 22 mallard

Afternoon at the West End. Red Kite, male Peregrine, 2 Buzzards, Water Rail underneath the feeders by the hide, 15 Mandarins, pair of Wigeon but no other ducks apart from Mallards, 23 Herons in the heronry some carrying sticks, Little Egret, 2 Little Grebes, 7 GC Grebes, 40 Greylags, 4 Chaffinches, Treecreeper, Marsh Tit.

West End:- 3 x Canada Goose, 1 x Egyptian Goose, 9 x Mandarin Duck, 9 x Mallard, 1 x Pochard, 6 x Tufted Duck, 1 x Pheasant, 2 x Stock Dove, 8 x Woodpigeon, 2 x Coot, 3 x Great Crested Grebe, 1 x Snipe, 12 x Grey Heron, 1 x Buzzard, 1 x Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 x Coal Tit, 2 x Marsh Tit, 12 x Blue Tit, 6 x Great Tit, 4 x Long-tailed Tit, 1 x Mistle Thrush, 1 x Robin, 2 x Dunnock, 1 x Chaffinch
