WeirWood was dark and gloomy at 7:45hrs and at the dam it was pretty quiet. Still the usual grebes and gulls inc’ a Little Grebe and 4 Common Gulls. On the dam Grey Wagtail and 4 Meadow Pipits. In the c/pk 5 Jays, 2 Goldcrests, a Fieldfare and 2 Siskins. At the west end 4 Pochards, 2 Shovellers and the usual collection of geese inc’ the Bar-headed Goose, with a few hundred birds involved. 2 Kingfishers were chasing around and on the feeders still Coal and Marsh Tit plus a male Great spotted Woodpecker. A female Sparrowhawk flew through spooking all those on the feeders, calm was soon restored though. Again a Raven flew over, its distinctive calls alerting me to its presence. In the stubble field all was quiet with everything seemingly moving on.

Late afternoon the Bar headed goose was making a lot of noise, interesting listening to it. 197 Greylags, 40 Canadas, 4 Pochard, 2 Wigeon, 1 Teal, 3 Coot, Kingfisher and 63 Cormorants.
Flying around were 100+ Woodpigeons, 67 Redwings, 30 Starlings and a Kestrel.
Around the feeders 2 Coal Tits, 2 Marsh Tits, Chaffinch & Goldcrest.

Only Shovellers, Bar-headed Goose, 2 Egyptian Geese and Kingfisher to add.

West End:- 9 x Canada Goose, 4 x Wigeon, 16 x Mallard, 3 x Teal, 4 x Pochard, 2 x Pheasant, 150+ x Woodpigeon, 1 x Moorhen, 2 x Little Grebe, 11 x Great Crested Grebe, 33 x Black-headed Gull, 1 x Ring-necked Parakeet, 2 x Magpie, 2 x Carrion Crow, 1 x Coal Tit, 1 x Marsh Tit, 5 x Blue Tit, 3 x Great Tit, 1 x Chiffchaff, 1 x Goldcrest, 1 x Blackbird, 1 x Fieldfare, 2 x Robin, 2 x Pied Wagtail (yarrellii), 1 x Goldfinch

WeirWood from 8:00hrs on a rather gloomy morning. In the dam c/pk 2 Goldcrests and a Coal Tit noted in a small tit flock. On the dam 6 Meadow Pipits and a Green Woodpecker. Whilst on the aerator around 45 Black-headed and an ad’ Common Gull. Plenty of Great-crested Grebes today with 42 at the dam. Back in the c/pk 22 Fieldfares and 6 Redwings noted, also 4 Redpolls over. The west end at 8:40 a White-tailed Eagle sub ad’ flew over heading north along the north bank flanked by a flock of corvids. Looked like it landed but I couldn’t relocate it. Patch tick for me. Also of note several Mandarins mostly gaudy males, 4 Pochards, 7 Teal and 3 Common Gulls all ad’s. A Raven again flew over the west end. Lastly a Kingfisher was present too. I left at 9:00hrs

Late afternoon a Goshawk was over the northern ridge putting everything up including 120+ Woodpigeons, 10 Redwings, 7 meadow Pipits, 7 Stock Doves and couple of Chaffinches and loads of corvids.
On the water 3 Pochards, 2 Mandarins, Little Grebe, 4 Coots, 42 Canada Geese, 3 Grey Heron, Kingfisher & 3 Egyptians.
Coal & Marsh tit visiting feeders plus a Goldcrest in the brambles

West End:- 27 x Canada Goose, 1 x Bar-headed Goose, 151+ x Greylag Goose, 15 x Mandarin Duck, 2 x Wigeon, 38 x Mallard, 9 x Teal, 3 x Pochard, 1 x Pheasant, 365+ x Woodpigeon, 2 x Moorhen, 1 x Coot, 1 x Little Grebe, 7 x Great Crested Grebe, 22 x Black-headed Gull, 2 x Grey Heron, 1 x Sparrowhawk, 1 x Kingfisher, 1 x Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 x Magpie, 2 x Jackdaw, 2 x Rook, 1 x Raven, 1 x Coal Tit, 1 x Marsh Tit, 5 x Blue Tit, 2 x Great Tit, 9 x Long-tailed Tit, 2 x Goldcrest, c35 x Starling, 1 x Song Thrush, 6 x Redwing, 2 x Blackbird, 2 x Robin

Mid morning at the dam found 40 Great Crested Grebes with 5 Common Pochards, 2 Wigeon were on the Lagoon. Behind the dam were 60 Goldfinch, 20 Siskin, 2 Chaffinches, 2 Goldcrests a Song Thrush and just one Meadow Pipit. Several Jays heard and Raven.
Not much on the move but 10 Redwings, 36 Starlings several Hundred Woodpigeons and a Skylark over. On the walk back a Marsh Tit was noted by the horse Paddock and a female Sparrowhawk glided over.
At the west end 10 Mandarins, 3 Teal,Shoveler and 5 Egyptian Geese.
A look at the game crop fields opposite found just 4 Reed Buntings, 3 Goldfinch and a Kestrel.

WeirWood this sunny morning a Little Egret, 6 Teal, 3 Little Grebe still amongst the 42 Great-crested and the pair of Tufted Ducks. On Pintail Bank 4 Snipe flushed and flew to the point. On the feeders Marsh and Coal Tits again. Other species inc’ a Red Kite over and landing in Admiral’s Wood, plus a Raven being pursued by Carrion Crows. In the stubble fields at least 2 Brambling present. Nothing of note at the dam, too many people, however in the c/pk at last a Firecrest with 2 Goldcrests and a few Blue Tits moving through the trees rather briskly. Fantastic birds.
