WeirWood, I arrived just prior to dawn at the west end and was greeted by a calling Tawny Owl. As the sun came up the usual selection of duck appeared inc’ 40 Pochard, 7 Wigeon, 6 Mandarins and 3 Teal. On the feeders both 2 Marsh and a Coal Tit were noted plus a male Great spotted Woodpecker and Nuthatch. A nice Sparrowhawk male also put in an appearance here too. Along Pintail bank a Little Egret was seen feeding briefly, however not a single grebe was seen this end. In the c/pk 10+ Redwings and 2 Fieldfares for a short while. Moving on to the dam, here a lovely ad’ winter Little Gull was with the few Black-headed left from the roost, also 4 Common Gulls, 2 ad’s and 2 2nd winters. About 30 Great-crested Grebes were scattered around whilst on the dam 3 Grey Wagtails and a Kingfisher noted. Along the south bank 2 Tufted Duck were seen. In the c/pk a surprise Chiffchaff was seen well, sadly not Siberian also seen well were Goldcrest and 2 Jays. Below the dam little of note other than another Grey Wagtail in the overflow. I left at 9:30hrs.
